This bus tour leads around the „Ringstraße“, a boulevard of about 4km in length. Along this magnificent street you will see beautiful architecture in the Historicist Style like the State Opera, the Museum of Fine Arts and Natural History, the Parliament and many more buildings. We will cross the Danube River to learn about the modern architecture of Vienna. This tour will end in the city centre.

Musicians‘ Memorials in Vienna

Over the centuries a lot of todays very famous musicians resided and composed in Vienna. Already in medieval time Walter von der Vogelweide sung for the Babenberger family at court. Joseph Haydn, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Ludwig van Beethoven had left their traces in Vienna, because the high nobility sponsered these artists. Ludwig van Beethoven had 68 different adresses in todays Vienna, where he composed or enjoyed his holidays. We will visit some memorials and you will hear about the musicians‘ life and compositions.

Modern Vienna

his history of architecture leads back over 2000 years in Vienna. Nonetheless we will study the recent Viennese architecture during this tour. We will admire buildings designed by different architects like Fritz Wotruba, Coop Himmelb(l)au, Gustav Peichl, Dominique Perrault and many more, who have given Vienna its modern face.

The Roman Military Camp Carnuntum

From Vindobona as Vienna was named by the Romans, we drive to Carnuntum. This Roman military camp housed more the 50.000 soldiers. According to the latest research, the camp was so important that it had its own circus school. Learn all about the camp life of a Roman soldier as well as the life of the civilian population who settled near the camp.

Vienna Woods and Klosterneuburg Abbey

We start our tour via Grinzing and the “Höhenstrasse“, a mountain road within the city boarders and drive to the Kahlenberg enjoy the beautiful view over the city. Through the Vienna Woods, which works as a „green lung“ for Vienna, we reach Klosterneuburg Abbey, the highlight of this tour.

We will visit the abbey, founded by the Babenberger family, known for the famous Verduner Altar, the beautiful cloister and many more pieces of art.

Vienna Woods, Mayerling and Heiligenkreuz Abbey

This tour leads to the southern part of the Vienna Woods. From Baden, a health resort already used by the Romans, via the Helenental, a picturesque valley, we reach Mayerling, where Crown Prince Rudolf committed suicide, and Heiligenkreuz Abbey, a spot of special peace, which became a burial site of some Babenberger family members.

Wachau Valley and Melk Abbey

We start this tour with the visit of Melk Abbey, a jewel of Baroque Architecture in this area. After this visit we continue along the Danube river through the world heritage „Wachau Valley“ to Dürnstein, a small picturesque city at the Danube river, where King Lionheart was held captive. There is an old tradition of wine production and art in this area.

Joseph Haydn and the Eszterhazy Family

Our first stop will be in Rohrau at the birth place of Jospeh Haydn. We continue to Eisenstadt, where the Esterhazy family built one of their many palaces and castles. Josef Haydn spent many years here at court and in the famous Haydnsaal, the prestigious music hall. Many of his compositions were performed there. After this visit we will see the Bergkirche, the church where the Haydn mausoleum is located. Back in Vienna there will be the possiblity to visit the Haydn Haus, where the composer died in the year 1809.

The „Weinviertel“ and the hunting lodges of Prince Eugen of Savoy

Our first stops will be Schloss Niederweiden und Schloss Hof, two of Prince Eugen‘s hunting lodges. On the border to todays Slovakia Prince Eugen commissioned the construction of Schloss Hof, a Baroque style palace and garden, which impresses all visitors till today. After the intensive visit of this siting we will continue to Schloss Marchegg. Here we visit the castle’s park, where you may observe one of the biggest Stork colonies in Europe during the summer. We drive back to Vienna via the beautiful landscape of „Weinviertel“, well known for the vineyards oft the famous grape variety of „Grünen Veltliner“.
